As most of us expected the PPKM Covid-19 Protocol for Bali and Java has been extended.
The new date, Aug 16th., seems odd since Aug. 17th. is a major holiday for Independence Day so it might have been better to extend to Aug 18 th. to avoid a surge in cases and deaths caused by huge gatherings.
Let us all hope that this extension brings the new Variant under control and cases and deaths begin to drop in numbers exponentially in the coming days and months.

Suara.com - The government has officially announced the extension of the Implementation of Restrictions on Community Activities aka PPKM level 4 for the island of Java - Bali, until Monday, August 16, 2021.
In a speech broadcast live via YouTube, Monday (9/8/2021), the Coordinator Emergency PPKM Java-Bali emphasized that the extension of Level 4 PPKM was still needed.

"Atas arahan Presiden RI, maka PPKM level 4, 3 dan 2 di Pulau Jawa dan Bali akan diperpanjang sampai 16 Agustus 2021," kata Luhut.

Luhut menjelaskan, penjelasan teknis serta aturan-aturan yang diberlakukan, akan dimaktubkan dalam instruksi Menteri Dalam Negeri Tito Karnavian.
Previously, an epidemiologist or epidemiologist from the Faculty of Public Health, University of Indonesia, Pandu Riono, suggested that PPKM Levels 4, 3, and 2 in Java-Bali and other areas be extended again.
Although there is currently a downward trend in Covid-19 cases based on the decreasing level of treatment bed occupancy capacity or bed occupancy ratio, according to him, this is not enough to ensure that PPKM can be relaxed.
"The situation hasn't changed much. PPKM according to its level needs to be maintained," Pandu wrote on his Twitter account, Monday (9/8/2021).
“ PPKM Level 3/4 needs to be extended. Efforts to restrict population activity through PPKM. (Because) 3M is still low,” continued Pandu.

He reasoned that it would be better if the PPKM was extended because the number of vaccinations had not increased and there were still problems with the availability of vaccines.
“Vaccination has not increased rapidly, there is a problem with vaccine availability. Test-Track-Isolation is still not (maximum), weak, "explained Pandu.
For information, PPKM Levels 4, 3, and 2 in Java-Bali and outside Java-Bali, which started on August 3, 2021, ended today, after previously being extended.
Initially, Emergency PPKM was implemented on 3-20 July 2021 in Java-Bali, and 12-20 July 2021 outside Java-Bali.
Then, the regulation was extended with a new term PPKM Level 4 on July 20-25 2021, then extended for the period July 26-2 August 2021, and extended again for the period August 3-9 2021.
